Why older women are dating younger men is a common topic of conversation among men interested in dating older women. Dating an older woman in her 30's or 40's can be very different than a less experienced woman in her 20's. Older women have had a decade or more to develop, learn, and experience life. This can lead to very different motives for dating than a fresh-faced 22-year-old.
Fortunately, a recent study of 3,500 single older men and women was undertaken by our friends at AARP The Magazine to study this very thing.Over 60% of those surveyed were older single women who cited the points below as their primary reasons for dating.

Having a companion to share experiences with and talk to was by far the most popular answer for women.
"53% of women listed having someone to talk to and do things with as their single most important reason for dating"
Many of these women have reached a point in their life where they are well into their careers and on sound financial footing. Now they are interested in finding someone great to share their lives with. This does not necessarily mean marriage, thought it does for some, but an interesting younger man to take an already great life to the next level.
We can all relate to the fact that the company you keep will often determine how enjoyable many experiences are. These women are no different! They are looking for men who can appreciate and enjoy the company of older women.
No surprises here. Coming in as the second most popular answer was having fun.
"19% of women listed "have fun" as the most important reason to them for dating"
One mistake that younger men often make is assuming that older women are "too mature" to have fun. This is just plain wrong. Every young man needs to realize that women NEVER stop wanting to have fun. Older women are dating younger men because they are fun! Especially in the early stages of a relationship the ability to have fun together is critical. Why would you want to be with someone you don't have fun with anyways?
A major advantage that younger men have is the willingness and ability to have fun. Decades of stress from living an adult life can sap some of the fun out of a guy. If you can ensure that any time spent with you is going to be FUN you are going to have a lot of success dating older women. We've put together some solid recommendations on where you can meet cougars looking for cubs, spots that also happen to be fun date locations.
Similar to the first reason on our list, older women want someone to come home to.
"7% of women who responded listed finding a partner to live with as their most important reason for dating"
This is a surprisingly low number, especially compared to women in their late 20's and early 30's who are feeling very pressured to settle down. Older women have often been married before or have decided not to marry out of choice. In both cases these women are in no hurry to jump into a committed relationship without spending some time getting to know their love interest and having fun. This should not be any cause for alarm for any commitment averse younger men, commitment is not necessarily the main reason older women are dating younger men.
Tied in response volume with "finding a partner to live with" is "finding the right man to marry".
"Finding someone to marry was the primary reason for dating for 7% of women"
If you combine this with those women primarily looking to find someone to live with we have 14% of older women who are looking to immediately jump into a serious committed relationship. That is MUCH lower than most younger men realize. Again, older women are dating younger men for many more reasons than marriage.
The last of the top reasons why women date younger men is all about sex.
"Fulfill my sexual needs was the top reason for dating for 2% of all women"
This may seem like a small number but it really falls into the same categories as reason number one and reason number two. Combined, we see that 74% of older women are primarily interested in enjoying their life and spending their time with someone who feels the same way. That doesn't mean that they are not open to a relationship along the line, they may be. At this point however they want to have fun.
With the knowledge that every time you message or talk to a cougar that there is 74% chance she is looking for fun, you need to make sure that she gets what she wants! Even the 14% who are primarily focused on a long-term relationship will want to have fun. If there is one thing you should take away from this post it is that GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN!
